Last week the EAEVE (the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education) entered Eesti Maaülikool (EMU, the Estonian University of Life Sciences) in Tartu officially on the list of visited and approved establishments. This means that veterinary medicine curricula meet the requirements set down in the study program for veterinary surgeons in European Union Directive 2005/36.
On their trip through the Baltic countries Nebraska Lead Group visited the Estonian University of Life Sciences on January 16 2010. Nebraska Lead Group visited the cowshed in Märja, had a look at the small and large animal clinic of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences. Tiiu Ohvril gave an overview of the contemporary trends in Estonian agriculture and Ülar Loolaid focused on agricultural support programs and the problems connected with it. After the lunch the guests had a pleasant opportunity to talk to our PhD students.
A BOVA intensive course on Organic Animal Husbandry and Animal Welfare takes place on February 1-5.
Meeli Voore and Lilian Ariva arranged a three-day training course for the e-learning specialists from the Baltic Agricultural and Veterinary Universities. Distance-learning part makes up a big part of intensive Master courses. The four universities came to a common understanding as to the requirements for e-courses. They were also given a general introduction into compiling and e-course in Moodle environment.
We are glad to inform you that BOVA Rectors’ Board meeting held at the end of year 2009 went successfully and we are continuing our cooperation and will try to implement our stated tasks.
On January 13 Professor Bruno Lebizek and Professor Catherine Magras fromthe National Veterinary School of Nantes visit the Estonian University of Life Sciences.
They will visit the Department of Food Sciences and Food Hygiene; Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences, including the micro-diary and animal clinics and the Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
