Staff training week 2016

International Week 2016: “Teaching life sciences in a modern world“

Estonian University of Life Sciences is pleased to invite you to join our second Erasmus+ Staff Training Week taking place on May 2 – 6, 2016.

Estonian University of Life Sciences (EMÜ) is the only university in Estonia whose priorities in academic and research activities provide the sustainable development of natural resources necessary for the existence of Man as well as the preservation of heritage and habitat. EMÜ is the centre of research and development in the fields of agriculture, forestry, animal science, veterinary science, rural life and economy, food science, and environmentally-friendly technologies in Estonia.

This year, our Erasmus+ Staff Training Week will focus on three fields of education and research at EMÜ: environmental sciences, forestry and veterinary medicine. Our guests will have an opportunity to meet leading scientists of EMÜ, take a peek into their labs and visit different facilities. Also, the aspects of international collaboration will be covered. During excursions and individual meetings, you will have a chance for discussions with colleagues from our institutes. You will also have the opportunity to get to know our international study programmes and services we offer to international students. Applicants are welcome to specify their wishes regarding personal meetings in the application form.

The Staff Training Week is mainly targeted at our Erasmus partner universities’ staff working in the field of international student mobility.

All participants are expected to give a 5-minute presentation about their university. To apply, please fill in the online registration form by March 1st, 2016. Selected applicants will be announced by March 15, 2016.

We can accept a maximum of two people per participating institution but in case of excessive number of applications can limit the number to one per institution. The total number of participants is limited to 20. All participants are kindly expected to keep in mind that the working language of the International Week is English and a good command of the language is required.

Participants pay for their travel, accommodation, meals and optional visit to the Estonian National Opera. Welcome dinner, coffee breaks and the rest of the programme is provided by EMÜ. For accommodation in Tartu we recommend Hotel Dorpat or Hotel Pallas.

Please bear in mind that a great deal of the programme will take place outdoors – proper clothing for Nordic Spring is highly recommended!
