VALORTECH ERA Chair is organising a webinar "Valorisation of vegetal waste and by-products: An eminent source of natural bioactive ingredients" on December 11th, 2020.
The webinar gives an overview of various methods and strategies for minimization and valorisation of food waste/by-products to obtain value-added bioactive ingredients for potential food applications. A series of interactive online lectures are provided, followed by discussions and group/individual activities relevant to sustainable food production.
The webinar will cover:
- Introduction to the basic knowledge on food waste/by-product generation and management.
- Knowledge of various strategies to minimize agri-food wastes and future trends.
- Information on agri-food waste valorization for obtaining different bioactive ingredients.
- Role of bioactive compounds from agri-food waste in functional foods.
Participation is free of charge, but registration is required.
The completed course provides 1 ECTS credit points (a certificate of attendance will be awarded upon completion of all sessions).
