WHAT?

In co-organization with Garage48, Estonian University of Life Sciences and Estonian Research Council, and in partnership with Polli Horticultural Research Center, TFTAK, TalTech, BioCC, and Tartu Biotechnology Park (EIT Food Hub in Estonia), a second food technology hackathon will take place 27-29 January 2023 in Estonia, to find solutions to different challenges in the food industry.

This year we have something extraordinary planned for you! There will be actual food tasting at the hackathon, so tell us about the food you want to develop, come and run the tests you need at our partner laboratories, and surprise us with new tastes!

HOW AND WHERE?

1. Physical food related solutions

We welcome science-driven ideas until 15 November and selected idea owners will have 2-month access to our partner laboratories with the necessary mentorship (TFTAK, BioCC, TalTech, Polli Horticultural Center and the food laboratory of the Estonian University of Life Sciences) to run tests and develop their product!

The product owner will bring his/her prototype for tasting to the event for the jury, and within 48 hours, his/her team has to create a business and marketing plan, a concept for packaging and some branding, together with a clickable prototype of their product.

2. Software development-related solutions

Teams must develop a clickable prototype in 48 hours. We welcome software-related ideas until 20 January.

WHO?

Garage48 invites bio- and food technologists, chefs, nutritionists, all food enthusiasts and idea owners, food safety professionals, agriculturers, food policy experts, educators, entrepreneurs, developers, marketers, business visionaries, and (UX/UI) designers to contribute to developing more environmentally friendly and healthy eating habits in food technology, and solve the challenges of food systems and production.

TEAM FORMATION

You can register as an individual or a team, with or without an idea. You can put together your own team in the process or join someone else's team. Teams should be completed by the start of the hackathon in January.

Team formation takes place on Eventornado platform.
