Georgians studied artificial insemination

A group of future insemination specialists from Georgia participated in a ten-day artificial insemination course conducted by the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences of EMÜ. According to Dimitri Kvirikashvili, head of the group, cows in Georgia only give around one thousand kilograms of milk per year, while in Estonia the average yield is about 8400 kilograms.

The group spent four days acquiring theoretical knowledge about artificial insemination, and six days practicing the same in farms. The visit of insemination specialists will be followed by a study visit of animal husbandry specialists who will get an introduction to selectice breeding, animal marking, healthcare as well as performance control.
