Estonian University of Life Sciences - students from 43 countries

For the 112 new international students who will start their studies at EMÜ, the academic year will start a bit earlier, on August 28th. It makes sense because these young people are coming from far away and they need some more time to live in. To help students, EMÜ will organise an orientation programme.

The International students will gather on Tuesday, August 28th in the assembly hall of the main building where they will be given a short overview of  the university, the services we offer and also some tips for getting around Tartu. After this, there will be a campus tour, followed by an excursion in the city centre and a picnic by the river Emajõgi.

Throughout the week, the dormitory, library and sports club will all have a chance to introduce themselves to the new students. They will be advised on how to settle in a new cultural space, learn the first basics of the Estonian language and get to know how studies work at EMÜ.

The orientation programme will end with a reception hosted by our rector Mait Klaassen at Tartu City Museum. And then, just like the Estonian students, the international students will start their studies on September 4th.

Students from 35 different countries will start their studies at EMÜ this autumn. All together, EMÜ has students from 43 countries and most of them are from Finland.
