Tallinn Zoo chose Estonian University of Life Sciences friend of the year

On 25. of august Tallinn Zoo had its 79. birthday. Zoo offered visitors a slightly more special program, but the party was also celebrated by zoo workers and friends. It was very important day for our university too, because Tallinn Zoo gave this year “Friend of the Year” titel to Estonian University of Life Sciences.

Tallinn Zoo Friends Community and Tallinn Zoo gave this title for improving animal welfare, said the head of Clinical Veterinary Medicine department Aleksandr Semjonov.

EMÜ veterinarians have helped the zoo to heal the polar bear and elephant and made it free of charge under a cooperation agreement. However, a lot of valuable experiences have been gained. Tiit Maran, Director of the Zoo, gave Aleksandr Semjonov a sculpture made by sculptor Tauno Kangro, which will be located at the Animal Clinic.

Zoo Friend of the Year titel is awarded to individuals or organizations, who have significally helped the zoo for the past year. Formerly, for example, companies and individuals such as Talot AS, Tikkurila AS, Veronika Padar and Anne Järvsoo have won Friend of the Year title.
