Estonian University of Life Sciences greets new international students

For our new international students, this academic year started a little earlier than for others. As students from farther away may need a little more time to orientate with the new environment, Estonian University of Life Sciences organized a Orientation Week for them.

On Tuesday, August 27 all of our new foreign students gathered in the university's main hall, where they were given a brief overview of the university. Possibilities of the school were told and instructions given for adapting with the student life in Tartu. During the week new students will be given advice on how to adapt to the new cultural space. They will be introduced to the university campus in Tähtvere, the city of Tartu in general and first words of Estonian will be learnt.

Among other things, a traditional part of the adaptation program is the festive reception of Rector Mait Klaassen at Tartu City Museum on Friday, August 30. Similarly to Estonian-speaking students, foreign students will also begin their studies on September 3. Read more about the full Orientation Week program here.

This fall new international students from 26 countries will start studying in our university. As of the new academic year, Estonian University of Life Sciences hosts international students from 43 different countries total, most of them from Finland.
