For our new international students, the school year starts slightly earlier than for others. Traditionally, the Department of Academic Affairs organises an Orientation Week and this year is no different.
The orientation programme will start on the 28th of August and go on until September 1.
During the orientation week, new students will learn about our study system, about Estonian culture and language and will of course get to know our campus and the city of Tartu. One of the highlights of the programme will definitely be our rector Ülle Jaakma’s reception at the Estonian National Museum. This year, our Student Union is also organising the Foxfest for all new students (both Estonian and international) so hopefully this will give our international students the opportunity to also make friends among Estonians.
The largest number of full time degree students are from Finland, followed by Nigeria and Pakistan. The biggest number of exchange students will come from France, Germany and Poland.
Altogether, we’re expecting about 130 new international students from 32 different countries this autumn. Let’s help them feel at home.
