As always, the Office of Academic Affairs is organizing an orientation programme for new Erasmus+ exchange students.

Today, the day began with an introduction to the Estonian University of Life Sciences, and the new students were welcomed by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Endla Reintam, as well as representatives of the Student Council and Erasmus Student Network Tartu. In addition, they participated in their first Estonian language lesson, which was followed by a city tour in the afternoon. Tomorrow and the day after, they will learn about ÕIS and other topics related to their studies, there will be information sessions for students of veterinary medicine and landscape architecture, and they will get to know the most important places on campus, which certainly include the sports building and the library. The orientation programme also includes ice skating on the town hall square with vastlakuklid, and on Saturday, the week will end with a welcome party organized by our own local students.

For the spring semester, EMÜ will receive around 40 exchange students from a total of 13 countries: Austria, Egypt, Georgia, Croatia, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Poland, Portugal, France, Germany, the Czech Republic and Hungary. It is worth noting that more than half of the new students are French.

The aim of the adaptation program is to ensure that students, for most of whom living and studying abroad is a first time experience and perhaps a bit scary, feel as welcome as possible and that we can familiarize them with the practicalities so that they are ready to start studying right away by the start of the semester.
