Courses for exchange students

The University has the right to cancel courses due to unforseen circumstances and in case there are less students attending than anticipated.
Please note that some courses include separate groups for exchange students as usual lectures are held in Estonian. 

NB! Students must meet B2 level requirements for English proficiency according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in order to take the courses that are listed.
Please also note our grading system and make sure that your home university accepts pass/fail courses!

How to apply for Erasmus exchange (studies)? 

Ask the International Office in your university to help you. If you want to come with Erasmus+, ask the International Office in your university if they have a bilateral agreement with Eesti Maaülikool or check our list of Erasmus+ partner universities. Before you start appyling for Erasmus exchange at EMÜ, your home university has to send us a nomination (see deadlines below).

How to apply for Erasmus traineeships?

Traineeships in our veterinary clinics (small animal, production animal and equine clinics) are possible at certain times of the year. For details, see the information on our veterinary traineeships website.


Application procedure

Exchange Application Form

​First, the coordinator of your home university needs to nominate you by sending an e-mail to with the following information: 

- Your full name

- Field of study

- Study cycle (Bachelor's, Master's, Doctoral)

- Date of Birth

- Gender

- E-mail address

Then we will register you in our application system SoleMOVE and create an account for you and then you can prepare your application. For the application, you will need the following documents: 

  • Transcript of Records of your previous study results

The Transcript of Records is the list of your study results. Ask for the transcript from your own university. This document should be in English. 

  • Language Certificate

Exchange students whose primary language is not English must meet level B2 requirements for English proficiency according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Please view these requirements here: European Levels.
Documented evidence is needed to demonstrate your English language proficiency - an official letter from a language instructor at your university stating the student's language level on CEFR scale or if you have taken an international test of the English language (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.), please send us a copy of the test score. Minimum TOEFL iBT: 61; IELTS (academic): 5.0 p.

If needed, the incoming students coordinator can also conduct a video interview with the applicants to determine their language skills.

  • Copy of your ID or passport
  • Passport style photo
  • Motivation letter - maximum 1 page

In the application, you're required to choose the courses you're interested in following while at EMÜ under "Proposed study plan". 

After your application has been reviewed and you've been approved for all courses, the coordinator at EMÜ will inform you when it's time to prepare your Learning Agreement. 

Note! Please do not fill in the Learning Agreement  for studies before you have filled the study plan on SoleMOVE and have received confirmation of the study plan from the coordinator at the Estonian University of Life Sciences.

After submitting the documents

Once you have submitted the application, we will review it. After it's been approved, we will notify you about sending us your learning agreement and when that has been signed by all parties, we will send you the Letter of Acceptance by e-mail.

The procedure will take 4 – 6 weeks, possibly longer during holiday periods.


Orientation week

The orientation programme for new international students arriving for the spring semester of 2022/2023 academic year will be held from January 25-27, 2023.

Changes to the Learning Agreement

If you need to change your original approved Learing Agreement, you can use "During the mobility" form. Please check with your home university if you should use their template instead.
