Uzair Aftab, a graduate of the Environmental Governance and Adaptation to Climate Change (ENGO) programme at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, made a career shift after more than 14 years in financial journalism and operational management. Today, he works at the university, contributing to communication and research in the environmental field.

On 1 April, the Estonian University of Life Sciences opened admissions to its doctoral programmes, offering prospective PhD candidates the opportunity to choose from a wide range of research topics that address pressing societal challenges — from climate change and artificial intelligence to animal health and sustainable agriculture.

Helena Valvur and Lily Black are first-year students in the Environmental Governance and Adaptation to Climate Change (ENGO) Master’s programme, jointly offered by the Estonian University of Life Sciences and the University of Tartu. Coming from different backgrounds – astronomy and geoscience – they were both drawn to the programme by its interdisciplinary approach and flexibility.
