The masterpiece enlightenes how to reuse food waste

Prof. Rajeev Bhat's new book (Ed.) titled 'Valorization of Agri-Food Wastes and By-Products: Recent Trends, Innovations, and Sustainability Challenges' (Paperback ISBN: 9780128240441) was officially released by Ülle Jaakma (Vice-Rector for Research) and Toomas Tiirats (Director, Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences), Estonian University of Life Sciences, Tartu on September 10, 2021).

The book is published by highly recognized and prestigious publisher Elsevier Sciences (Academic Press, UK). Speaking on the occasion, Ülle Jaakma congratulated Rajeev (Professor & Chair holder ERA-Chair in Valortech) and expressed her immense happiness on this significant contribution to the University, Estonian agri-food sector and to the global scientific community. She stressed on the need for such an initiative aimed towards contributing to the society and indicated that the book release was timely especially when the focus is on circular bio-economy and green deals.

Toomas Tiirats expressed great pleasure in receiving the first copy of the book and congratulated Rajeev for this excellent contribution. Toomas indicated that this book is a masterpiece and will be of high value for all researchers and policy makers engaged in the field of valorization of agri-food wastes and by-products. Speaking on this occasion, Rajeev briefed that the book theme was designed with an innovative approach, highlighting recent trends in the ongoing research activities in this stimulating field, aiming to fill some of the existing gaps of knowledge. A wide arena of interesting topics related to the valorization of agri-food wastes/by-products, innovations, and various sustainability challenges encountered in the entire supply chain have been covered in this book, with contributions coming from highly recognized experts in the field.

Rajeev indicated that this book will be a prodigious reference material for agri-food scientists and technologists, agricultural engineers, environmental scientists, policymakers, and industry professionals working on sustainable food production, management of food loss, wastes, and by-products.
