In autumn 2026, elections will be held for the directors of the Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, the Institute of Forestry and Engineering, and the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences.
Candidates for the position of director must hold an academic degree, have experience in leading an academic organisation or an academic unit, and have expertise in at least one of the teaching and/or research fields related to the institute.
To participate in the competition, candidates must submit the following documents to the Election Committee:
- an application addressed to the Rector;
- a curriculum vitae (CV);
- a copy of the document certifying the academic degree;
- a vision and action plan outlining the candidate’s goals as director (up to two A4 pages);
- any other relevant materials at the candidate’s discretion, such as an academic portfolio.
Application documents must be submitted in Estonian, either in hard copy or digitally signed. All documents must be dated and signed.
Paper application documents must be submitted in a sealed envelope marked “Direktorikandidaat” and addressed to the Chair of the Election Committee. They can be delivered to the university’s Human Resources Department (F. R. Kreutzwaldi 1a, Tartu, Room 115) or sent by post to F. R. Kreutzwaldi 1a, 51006 Tartu.
Digitally signed documents should be sent by email to [email protected], addressed to the Chair of the Election Committee.
The deadline for submitting application documents is 29 October 2026 at 4:00 p.m.
The Rector will approve the composition of the Electoral College as of 1 October 2026 no later than two weeks before the elections. A public debate is scheduled to take place on 11 November in the assembly hall of the main building.
The election meeting will take place on 16 November at 2:00 p.m.
The director will be elected by the Electoral College through a secret ballot conducted electronically. Voting will open at the election meeting on 16 November and will close on 18 November 2026 at 5:00 p.m.
The director’s term of office will begin on 1 January 2027.
The elections will be conducted in accordance with the Rector’s directive “„Instituutide direktorite valimise välja kuulutamine”.
