Study counseling

The purpose of study counseling is to support students in their studies. You can contact a counselor regarding study planning, university system, academic leave, RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning and Work Experience), and other study-related matters. Also, if you wish to study as a visiting student at another higher education institution or abroad, or discuss possibilities for completing interrupted studies.

The study counselor is the study specialist of the institute administering your study programme.

Mental health support

The aim of psychological counseling is to support EMÜ students in coping with difficulties that arise both in studies and personal life.

Counseling provides students with a safe and confidential environment where a psychologist helps the counselee to better understand and articulate their problem. The psychologist supports the client in gaining clarity about their thoughts, feelings, wishes, and fears. After articulating the problem, the psychologist can support setting realistic expectations, help see the causes of difficulties and their persistence, and support finding suitable solutions.

Counseling is free for students.

Online counseling is also available upon request.

Supporting students with special needs

The Estonian University of Life Sciences (EMU) works to provide students with disabilities a learning and community environment that affords them full participation, equal access, and reasonable accommodation of their disabilities.

Accessibility

All the buildings of the EMU are wheelchair accessible.

Accommodation

Hostel TORN offers rooms for students in wheelchair. Accessible housing options should be requested as soon as possible - usually immediately following acceptance of admission.  Students with disabilities will have first choice for fully accessible housing units. If there are no students with disabilities by the deadline each spring, these rooms may be assigned to other students.

Parking

All the parking lots at the buildings and hostels in the University campus have spaces for accessible parking.

Dining

All dining areas are on accessible routes.

NB! If you are a student with disability who has questions about participating in study process, please contact our disabled students’ contact person:
