On Friday, 6 November, Reynald Ponté defended his doctoral thesis at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, entitled “MnO₂ Nanomaterials for High-Performance Anode for Supercapacitors Applications”. His research explored how modifying the structure of manganese oxide could improve the performance and durability of energy storage devices.

The Estonian University of Life Sciences has completed its Action Plan for Carbon Footprint Reduction and Resource Efficiency 2026+, which sets out measures to reduce the university’s carbon footprint and improve the efficient use of energy, materials and space. The action plan covers several areas of everyday university operations, from renewable energy use to environmentally friendly transport.

In just two weeks, the Estonian University of Life Sciences will elect directors for the Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, the Institute of Forestry and Engineering, and the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences for the next five years. Four candidates submitted the required application documents by the deadline.

The Estonian University of Life Sciences has published the first volume of the Estonian-language textbook Small Animal Anaesthesiology and Surgery, focusing on anaesthesiology. Developed over three years, the book provides veterinary students and practising veterinarians with essential knowledge in Estonian while supporting the development of Estonian veterinary terminology.

The Estonian University of Life Sciences will participate in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31) in November to showcase solutions developed by its researchers for adapting to the impacts of climate change and to establish new international partnerships. This year, the university's focus is on the circular bioeconomy, water reuse and sustainable food production.

On Monday, October 26th, Salini Chandrasekharan Nair defended her doctoral thesis at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, entitled “Production of algal exopolysaccharides via integration of thermal and biochemical processes”.
