Erasmus+ Staff Training Week "Sustainability in Action" 4.05-8.05.2026

The participation is free of charge, but the participants need to cover their travel expenses themselves. That includes transportation, accommodation, insurance and local transportation that is not included into the programme, and daily expenses. 

The staff-week is a BIP (Blended Intensive Programme) and can be covered from the Erasmus+ funds. For more information, please contact the person responsible for the Erasmus+ at your home university. For the details needed to complete mobility agreement, please reach  out to [email protected].

Train

There is a daily train connection between the three Baltic states (Vilnius to Riga to Tallinn via Tartu) and you can buy tickets on the Estonian rail service website: www.elron.eelink opens in new page (you can buy tickets up to 1 week in advance)

Bus

Boat

If you arrive by plane to one of the nearest destinations, then travelling from

• The closest airport, the Tartu airport, located at the outscirts of Tartu. It is easy to reach any point in Tartu by taxi from there (use the Bolt applink opens in new page for that).
• Tallinn airport? You can take a bus (2,5h ride) from the airport (check and buy tickets at luxexpress.eu/link opens in new page) to the stop Tartu Coach station which is located in the city center, right next to the Dorpat Hotel. If you stay at Rohe Hostel, take the stop Tartu näitused, that is located at the campus, next to the Rohe Hostel.
• Port of Tallinn? You can take a taxi from the port to Tallinn Coach Station and then take a bus from there to Tartu (book your bus ticket at www.tpilet.eelink opens in new page or https://luxexpress.eu/link opens in new page) 

• Tallinn in general? If you prefer taking the train, you can also take a train from Tallinn to Tartu. The railway station is located close to Tallinn Old Town, you can book tickets here: www.elron.eelink opens in new page. 

* Don’t take a taxi from Tallinn to Tartu! (it will cost you around 250 EUR if you do)

Smart Bike Sharing service 

Tartu Smart Bike Share is a public, self-service bike share system for short trips. The Bike Share comprises 750 bikes across 69 stations. Two thirds of the fleet is equipped with electric-assist motors that provide riders with an extra boost when pedalling.
