Public lecture "Unlocking the Potential of Wood Chemistry: Innovations in Sustainable Biorefining"

On Tuesday, December 10, at 10:00 AM, Sabarathinam Shanmugam will deliver a public lecture (venia legendi) on wood biorefining titled “Unlocking the Potential of Wood Chemistry: Innovations in Sustainable Biorefining”. Shanmugam is a candidate for the position of Associate Professor in Wood Chemistry and Biorefining (tenure track).

The Venia Legendi presentation "Unlocking the Potential of Wood Chemistry: Innovations in Sustainable Biorefining” highlights the role of wood chemistry and biorefining in advancing global sustainability. This presentation focuses on the recent technological advances in wood fractionation and use of the fractions in biorefineries to produce high-value chemicals, materials, and fuels. It also presents case studies and future perspectives for more sustainable wood use to meet future demands while combating deforestation, advancing industry, and developing circular processes.

The lecture will take place in the Tehnikamaja, room B136. Everyone interested is welcome to attend.
