The Diversity Charter is a voluntary initiative embraced by a wide range of organizations – from public institutions to businesses and non-profits – that value equal treatment and strive to create open and inclusive working environments. A number of Estonian and European organizations have already joined the charter, working together to share experiences and foster greater equality in society.

According to Rector Ülle Jaakma, upholding the principles of diversity and inclusion is essential to the university’s development:
"Diversity, inclusion, and equal treatment are the foundation of a motivated, open, and creative academic community and a supportive environment. Differences should not divide us – they should bring us together to generate new knowledge and innovative solutions in a rapidly changing world," said Jaakma.

Coordinated by the Estonian Human Rights Centre, the Diversity Charter is part of a broader European platform that connects similar initiatives across 26 countries.

The Diversity Charter was launched in Estonia in 2012. Today, it is recognized as a mark of quality for employers, signaling to employees, partners, and clients alike that the organization respects diversity and values the principle of equal treatment.
