Lisandra Meneses received prestigious International Young Waste Researcher Award in China

The Asia-Pacific Association for Sustainable Waste Management awarded Prof. Lisandra Meneses with the International Young Waste Researcher Award during the International Conference on Solid Waste 2025: Waste Management for Carbon Neutrality and Circular Economy (ICSWDG2025), that took place in Dongguan, China from 9-12 of June.

This award honors exceptional early-career researchers who have demonstrated excellence and innovation in the field of waste management. The remarkable contributions of Prof. Lisandra Meneses have stood out, and she was one of the five awardees of the ceremony. 

In 2024, Professor Meneses was recognized as one of the 60 most impactful women in the Middle East for sustainability, climate innovation, and leadership by the Boston Consulting Group’s BCG V60 Awards. In the same year, she also received a Young Scientist Award by International Bioprocessing Association (IBA-IFIBiop) in a conference held in India. She is also a recipient of the 2020 L’Oréal Baltic Program’s “Women in Science” Young Talent Award for Estonia.

Professor Lisandra Meneses, a visiting professor at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, specializes in biotechnology and has an extensive international career. She has worked in Poland, Estonia, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, Sweden, Australia, Ireland, and Angola. Her research focuses on valorizing sidestreams using circular economy principles, and she has authored numerous publications in this area.
