At the Estonian University of Life Sciences, a wonderful tradition has developed to gather just before the Christmas season to recognize tutors and buddies for their dedication and commitment.
Together, we express our gratitude to students who have supported first-year students, helped them adapt to a new academic environment, and assisted them in finding their place within the university community. The most outstanding tutors and buddies are awarded the Tutor Scholarship in recognition of their contributions.
It is encouraging to see that tutoring at the Estonian University of Life Sciences continues to be highly active, with growing interest in becoming a tutor or buddy. This year’s scholarship competition set a new record: a total of 138 recommendation letters were submitted for 21 tutors and buddies positions. Such a high number of nominations highlights our student community’s strong sense of care, initiative, and willingness to support fellow students.
Based on the decision of the Tutor Scholarship Committee, the following students were awarded the scholarship this year:
- Hanna Belinska (Tutor, Veterinary Medicine);
- Tõnis Tomson (Tutor, Rural Engineering);
- Taru Aili Ilona Niemelä (Buddy for International (Visiting) Students);
- Kerli Kaarna (Tutor, Horticulture);
- Olha Harmatiuk (Buddy for International (Visiting) Students);
- Nicole Knut (Tutor, Nature Tourism).
A sincere thank you to all tutors and buddies who contribute to creating a friendly, supportive, and welcoming learning environment at our university.
