Ülo Niinemets, Tenure Professor of Crop Science and Plant Biology at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, has belonged to the top 0.1% of the world’s most cited researchers since 2016 — for a total of ten consecutive years.
On 12 November, the analytics company Clarivate Analytics (Clarivate Plc) published its list of Highly Cited Researchers for 2025. Among the top 0.1% are two Estonian scientists: Ülo Niinemets from the Estonian University of Life Sciences and Elin Org from the University of Tartu.
Ülo Niinemets is listed in the Plant and Animal Science category. According to Clarivate Analytics, his scientific work has been cited 54,163 times. His H-index is 111, and he has authored or co-authored 526 publications.
In total, the 2025 Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers list includes 6,868 influential scientists from 1,300 research institutions across 60 countries.
