22nd European Carabidolo­gists' Meeting

Dear Carabidologists, colleagues and friends,

The 22nd European Carabidologists Meeting is moving north to the vibrant city of Tartu, Estonia. The theme of this year’s meeting is “Connecting Scales: Carabid Responses from Genes to Landscapes,” covering a wide range of topics. The three-day meeting will take place at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, where we will share knowledge and diverse perspectives on carabids, from the gene level to the landscape scale. 

The meeting will include scientific talks and poster sessions, as well as lively discussions over coffee. A special dinner and a field trip are planned, giving participants the chance to enjoy both the nature around the Tartu area and the local cuisine. 

Registration and the call for abstracts for the 22nd ECM will be open until the beginning of May 2026.

Keynote speaker

We are pleased to announce Dr. Fabian A. Boetzl as a keynote speaker at the 22nd European Carabidologists’ Meeting.

Dr. Boetzl is an expert in ecology and biodiversity, with a particular focus on insect communities, land-use change, and ecosystem functioning. His research has significantly advanced our understanding of how environmental change shapes biodiversity patterns and ecological processes across landscapes.

His work centers on enhancing agricultural landscapes to support biodiversity conservation and the provision of natural ecosystem services. He has contributed extensively to research on natural pest control, exploring how landscape structure and crop management influence interactions between pests, their natural enemies, and overall biodiversity across spatial and temporal scales.

Presentation Guidelines

 

Oral presentations: 15-minute presentation + 5-minute Q&A.

  • Presentation language: English.
  • Presentation format: Microsoft PowerPoint (16:9 widescreen) or PDF.
  • Please upload your presentation to the conference computer at least 15–30 minutes before your session.
  • Bring your presentation on a USB drive as a backup.
  • Embedded videos should be tested in advance.

  • Questions will be taken only during the allocated discussion period.

     

Poster session (Flash talks): 7-minute presentation. 3 min for moving to next poster

  • Poster size: A1 (594 × 841 mm), portrait orientation
