The Estonian University of Life Sciences will open its graduation ceremony season with the graduation ceremony of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences. The ceremony will take place on 12 June at 12:00 noon in the university’s main building auditorium (F. R. Kreutzwaldi 1a), where diplomas will be awarded to 91 graduates.
The Estonian University of Life Sciences generated 5,689.83 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent greenhouse gas emissions in 2025, representing a 15.3% decrease compared with the previous year. The most significant contribution to this reduction came from the use of more climate-friendly fluorinated gases (F-gases) in machinery and equipment.
Yusuph Olawale Abiola defended his doctoral thesis at the Estonian University of Life Sciences entitled “Changes in Plant Carbon Gain and Volatile Emissions under Elevated CO₂ Concentration and Heat Stress.”
Jose Angel Morales Sanchez defended his doctoral thesis at the Estonian University of Life Sciences entitled “Desiccation Tolerance of Bryophytes and Lichens under Changing Climate Conditions.”
On May 22nd, the Estonian University of Life Sciences hosted the leadership conference “With Both Feet on the Ground”, which focused on resource security. The main topics of the day were future education and skills, resource security in the food and agricultural sectors, and resource security in forestry and the wood industry.
The Baltic circular bioeconomy pitching event held in Tartu was won by Estonian startup ConceptEasy, which is developing a microalgae-based technology for precision modulation of the gut microbiome in livestock. The solution uses nanoscale particles to reduce antibiotic use while improving animal health and productivity.
